About the Artist

Christine Atira Pauly, also know as Spoonseeker, is a Luxembourgish artist based in Edinburgh.

A traveller at heart, she spend 6 a half years in the south of Sweden, where she completed her 2 year foundation course in art, design and architecture at Lund's Konst och Design Skola.

Soon after she moved to Edinburgh, and spend 4 years studying drawing and painting at Leith School of Art.

After graduation she continued her art practice at Wasps Studio practice in Dalry as well as at home.

Artist Statement

About her art she says; 'I enjoy all forms of creative expression. But I am a painter at heart.
I continuously return to my roots of self reflection/expression when painting, drawing and print making. I'm currently expanding my project 'Vortex' which show a variety of alchemical reactions of oil paint and mediums that challenge each other. The push and pull of these materials that eat away at each other as well as the layers of paint, inspire me to find hidden figures in almost Rorschach like surfaces. These paintings are an expression of self reflection and contain a certain kind of mysticism that I collect during my travels through this solar system.'

'My side projects include creating woolly crafts such as my hand knitted octopus army, as well as creatures that belong to my story 'The Nightmare Creature World' which I am currently turning into an illustrated book. I reminisce in my love for old and new video games through my Hama bead - pixel creations.'

She works on commissions and sells her work as well as crafts internationally, at the Scottish Design Exchange (Edinburgh) (2016-2022) and at art markets, such as Out of the Blue - Drillhall (Edinburgh) and various conventions throughout the year.
